GT Roof: The world’s first inflatable roof top tent
The world’s first inflatable roof top tent, GT Roof is killing two birds with one stone: It combines cozy atmosphere with generous spaciousness in the tent interior and lowest weight with smallest pack size for an easy transport. GT Roof is about 2/3 lighter than traditional roof top tents and therefore can be referred to as a small revolution on the roof top tent market. The tent only weighs 25kg and is firmly connected to the car roof rack via a sturdy square aluminum frame and a mounting kit.
When driving the tent remains mounted on the car roof (as a small package).
Follow these steps to inflate the roof top tent:
- First of all, the base platform is inflated to provide a stable bed surface.
- In the second step, the actual roof top tent is inflated.
- Attach two leashes to the tent and firmly fix them in the ground. Set the telescopic ladder up – DONE!
Setting the roof top tent up is done within 10 minutes using the pump, which is included in the purchase. Dismantling will just take as much time.
Depending on the parking spot, you have the choice to whether set your GT Roof up rearwards or sideways.
The standard version of the GT roof provides a zipper on the tent for tapping an awning. More information at the end of the product details.
Additional to its original purpose on a car roof, the GT Roof can also be used on the loading platform of a vehicle, on the ground and even as a floating tent on a calm lake.

Frequently asked questions about the roof top tent GT Roof
Can I use the GT Roof in winter? Is the GT Roof winter-resistant?
Yes, you can use the roof top tent in winter due to the materials it is made of. The all season touring fabric by Tencate is weather-resistant and commonly used for traditional tents. Traveling with the GT Roof in winter is therefore possible. Nevertheless, please keep in mind that the tent is designed to be breathable and vapor-permeable and the cooling of the tent interior must be expected in very cold conditions/temperatures.
Where do I stow the ladder OR is it included in the pack size?
When collapsed, the telescopic ladder fits into the indicated pack size. When driving very high vehicles, however, we recommend transporting it in the trunk to be able to reach it right away for a comfortable setup.
What is included in the total weight (25kg)?
The entire, ready-packed roof top tent weighs 25kg including the telescopic ladder.
Am I in need of a mattress? Do I need a mattress?
Yes, we recommend using a mattress as the base mat is quite firm. Suitable mattresses will be available starting mid-June (pre-ordering is already possible!) The dimensions of the air mattress and its cover are 140cm x 200cm.
Can I store sleeping bags, blankets etc. in the tent?
It is only possible to stow thin blankets or light sleeping bags in the GT Roof. Due to its compact pack size, the storage space is very reduced when packed. Therefore, voluminous belongings currently have to be transported in the car.
How far can I extend the telescopic ladder? What is the maximum extension length of the telescopic ladder?
It is possible to extend the telescopic ladder up to 260cm. Put together, it only requires a packing size of 45cm x 70cm x 7cm. The maximum weight load is reached at 150kg.
How do I mount the GT Roof on the vehicle roof?
The vehicle requires roof rails and 2 cross beams, which are mounted at a distance of about 80 cm on the roof. The GT Roof and the roof rack are connected via an aluminum frame and the help of a mounting kit.
Do I have enough space as a tall person (<1.95m)? Is it also comfortable for tall people (<1.95m)?
The GT Roof provides a 220cm lengthwise bed surface. Hence, even very tall people can fully enjoy the sleeping area. Furthermore, the tent interior differs from traditional tents, where the tent walls meet in one point in the top of the tent. It does not matter, if you are rather petit or a very tall person, the comfortable and spacious interior height of at least 130cm in the entire tent comes in handy for everybody.
The tent tube or base platform of GT Roof are damaged, can I fix it?
Do not worry, both parts can be repaired, if needed. The tent fabric has designated openings to exchange the inner tube. The tube can be fix easily by gluing repair tape on the damaged spot. Alternatively, the tube is replaced. In case of a damaged base platform, a special adhesive is required. Due to the robustness of the material, damages are extremely unlikely. The delivery includes a stripe of repair tape and the special adhesive.
