B-Turtle: The micro-caravan for e-bikes
The bicycles trailer B-Turtle combines two functions in one: transport trailer and micro-caravan. Bicycles tours are able to reach a new level of extraordinary traveling with the B-Turtle. The underlying transport tray provides plenty of storage space for your belongings. The inflatable tent sits on top of the trailer. It switches from driving to camping mode in just takes a few seconds and provides enough space for 2 people to sleep and move comfortably. Sleeping on an air mattress at a height of about 73cm above the ground shelters you from the cold from the ground and in bad weather conditions. The spacious awning with headroom gives additional mobility inside the tent and only weighs 30kg.
In everyday life, the tent can be demounted in a few simple steps, which transforms the B-Turtle into a perfect transport trailer for errands and trips.
To give you a better sense how the B-Turtle functions, we distinguish between 2 modes: Driving Mode (Turtle Mode) and Camping Mode:
Overlying air tent in Turtle Mode
B-Turtle frame in lightweight aluminum construction
During Turtle Mode, the B-Turtle acts as a common transport trailer. The width of the B-turtle does not exceed 79cm and therefore has no troubles riding on bike paths. The tent sits on top of the trailer, which provides extra storage for your belongings in the integrated transport tray in Turtle Mode.
Deck platform made of drop stitch material
Awning with headroom
Additional support strut
Window with integrated mosquito net
In Camping Mode, the B-Turtle offers not only a sleeping area for 2 people but also an awning with headroom. The 130cm x 210cm deck platform inflates on top of the trailer and is manufactured from a robust drop stitch material.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE B-TURTLE
The B-Turtle consists of the following parts:
In camping mode, a spacious air tent inflates, which consists of:
B-Turtle setup and dismantling in a few steps:
After a long day of biking and touring, you just want to find the perfect spot and relax? There is nothing easier than that– just switch from Turtle Mode into Camping Mode and enjoy:
- First of all, disconnect the trailer from your bike. Continue by extending and mounting the frontal struts. Remove the tent package bag.
- Open all buckles and unfold the deck platform to all sides.
- Transported in the tent package bag, the two support struts are attached to the lower side of the deck platform via a Velcro strap and are mounted to the trailer.
- Then inflate the deck platform using a double-stroke hand or electronic pump. The inflation of the air tent follows.
- Fix the trailer and the awning with tent pegs to the ground and fasten the tent with guy lines. – DONE!
The dismantling of the B-Turtle runs in the exact reverse order.
The setup of the B-Turtle takes between 10-20 minutes depending on whether you used a double-stroke hand or an electronic pump for inflation. Dismantling is done within 10 minutes.

Frequently asked questions about the B-Turtle
Would you like to take a close look at the B-Turtle??
You are able to put the B-Turtle under the microscope and meet us at various trade shows. Just take a glance at our fair calendar. We might be at a fair close to your hometown soon. Alternatively, we are more than happy to organize a personal appointment with you in our Viennese home office. Please contact us in advance via e-mail: email@example.com
Can I do a test drive with the B-Turtle?
We are currently working on offering rental options with starting point in Vienna additional to creating the most convenient and fun Turtle-tours for you in the Viennese area. Those who do not own an e-bike, do not worry! Two e-bikes in different sizes will be at your disposal. We are working on it – more information will follow shortly.
How to order the B-Turtle from Switzerland?
The easiest way to order the B-Turtle is to get in touch with our Swiss based distribution partner SSCH Management. Please contact Beat and Verena Jost at +41(0)793797103 or send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org, if you have any questions about the order.
Recently, it is also possible to submit an order from Switzerland in our online shop! Please take any set limits e.g. from your credit card into consideration. You may have to increase it in advance.
Do I need a mattress?
Yes, we recommend using a mattress as the base platform is quite firm. The firmness is needed though to give the base of the tent its stability.
GentleTent will offer a suitable mattress soon. Due to a technical change, unfortunately ‘soon’ will be in the middle of September. A detailed product description will be published soon! You cannot wait until then? Just use a commercially available air mattress (e.g. Thermarest).
It is really possible to inflate the B-Turtle by using a simple hand pump?
The delivery included double-stroke hand pump is able to fully inflate the B-Turtle. We are aware and do not want to keep a secret of the fact that it can be physically demanding, especially after a long bike tour. Alternatively, you have the possibility to order an electronic pump, such as the GT Masterpumpe (230 Volt). Weighing 2.15kg, the pump needs to be connected to a standard power outlet, available at many campsites, to inflate the B-Turtle.
We are working on a more comfortable, completely self-sufficient solution for a battery operated electronic pump at the moment and are happy to share with you that we already have one in mind. Yet, it is not confirmed that the new idea will meet our expectations.
Is it possible to transport the B-Turtle in my car?
Generally, the B-Turtle (trailer with tent construction) fits in larger car trunks. Alternatively, the tent can be dismounted for easier transportation. However, we are not able to make a blanket statement for every existing vehicle. The trunk of a Mini, for example, is too small though. When planning a transport, please remember the stated pack size without drawbar, which can be easily mounted and dismounted.
BT Trailer with tent construction without drawbar: Length: 110cm, Width: 79cm, Height: 68-73cm (Height without tent: 58cm)
Is it possible to take the B-Turtle on trains?
When taking the train there are first of all country-specific differences and secondly it depends on the train typ.
In Austria, according to ÖBB information and in Germany, according to DB information the transport of the B-Turtle in regional trains with big bike carriages, which are generally located either in the front or the end of the train, is possible. It is not authorized to take the B-Turtle on long-distance trains or express trains such as the ICE etc. Two bicycled tickets are required (one for the trailer, one for the bike). The doorway of most trains should be big enough to smoothly load the 79cm wide B-Turtle on the train. Alternatively, the B-Turtle has to be lifted vertically through the door of the train.
Be aware: Very old trains often have a door width of only 66cm!
We recommend and suggest doing a detailed research on this topic in advance, especially for other countries.
The tent tube or deck platform are damaged, can I fix them?
Do not worry, both parts can be repaired, if needed. The tent fabric has designated openings to exchange the inner tube. The tube can be fix easily by gluing repair tape on the damaged spot. Alternatively, the tube is replaced. In case of a damaged base platform, a special adhesive is required. Due to the robustness of the material, damages are extremely unlikely. The delivery includes a stripe of repair tape and the special adhesive.
You remember reading that the B-Turtle can be used with common bicycles AND e-bikes?
Yes, that is still right. Of course, it is also possible to take the B-Turtle with a common bicycle on adventures. For flat stretches, short distances and/or sporty bike enthusiasts, riding a common bike with the B-Turtle in the back will not be a big deal. It is, however, a fact that carrying the trailer with an e-bike is an easier and less physically demanding way of traveling. Using an e-bike, longer distances, exhausting road gradients, hills or mountains will not be an issue.
On these grounds, we decided to place special focus on e-bikes.
