GentleTent at the sea

GentleTent products are very simple to use, the high-quality components and the unusual design ensure wind, water and weather resistance. We tested it.

High quality components for a safe camping experience

Camping shouldn't just be easy - when it comes down to it, our Gentletents should also be prepared for any weather conditions. In addition to the high-quality components, the sophisticated design should ensure this. The tunnel shape offers little gust of wind and is conducive to water drainage, but the textiles also ensure a carefree camping experience thanks to their extraordinary properties.

The pipe system made of robust Cordura or Double Ripstop

The heart of every Gentletent is the air-filled tube. The thermo-elastic polyurethane is jacketed by Cordura, which brings the Gentletent into shape when filled with air. Our Gentletent is the first application worldwide for this particularly abrasion-resistant material, which is mainly used as protective clothing for motorcycle clothing, or in the military and fire service. Therefore we are very proud to have won Cordura as a cooperation partner and, accordingly, to play a pioneering role in the use of these textiles in the camping sector.

Overview of technical specifications

  • very stable and abrasion-resistant textile
  • water-repellent coating
  • UV-resistant, wrinkle-free and durable

The GentleTent pipe system tested

The circumferential pipe system of each Gentletent ensures the stability of the tent. Due to the absence of rods and other load-bearing / supporting solid bodies, the pipe system is of particular importance and must therefore be robust. Contrary to the first assumption, the air body proves to be extremely resistant. The use of pneumatic lifting elements in industrial ship assembly underlines the advantages. What does that mean in camping use? Can the Gentletent withstand bumps and punctual loads? Our extreme test shows: YES, the pipe system can withstand any load.

Canvas made of weatherproof TenCate or polycotton

Rain, wind or heat/cold, the canvas of a Gentletent has to prove itself under extreme conditions and at the same time ensure high air permeability so that condensation inside the tent is avoided. With TenCate AllSeason Touring we have chosen a premium solution among the Tent textiles. In addition to weatherproof properties, the very high breathability ensures a pleasant tent climate.

Overview of technical specifications

  • Polyester with acrylic coating or cotton blended fabric
  • water-repellent - water column> 600 mm
  • UV resistant and breathable

As part of our Coming Home campaign series, we have subjected our Gentletents to very special tests. Free fall, abrasion and swimming tests, our tents mastered every risky action.

GentleTent im Windtest

Of course, our Gentletents should stand firm and stable on the ground even in stormy conditions. This is ensured by the shape of the Gentletents, which offers little surface for attack on the side profile. And the pipe system also remains unimpressed when the wind speeds exceed 80 km/h. We performed a number of tests to show the wind characteristics of our Air tents.

Extreme wind test

The wind machine is maxed out at 20.2 meters/second. So how do you test even stronger wind speeds? Of course, you attach a Gentletent to the roof of a vehicle and test the stability at speeds above 70 km/h.

Wind machine test

The result of our test with Vienna's strongest wind machine shows that our Gentletents can withstand wind speeds of 72 km/h even without bracing. A good sign, since you can do without bracing in particularly favorable conditions.
